這首歌曲算批判性相當明顯的歌曲，整首歌曲大概就是對一位只會抱怨卻不曾努力過的朋友，所以一直聽著抱怨就忍不住反擊這位朋友，說他根本就跟隻狗一樣毫無生活目標，不曾想過上進也沒有生活目標更見識淺薄。

Come out to get your wheels turning* 後半段原意是讓你的輪子轉動吧，筆者假設這輪子是暗喻交通工具，因此翻譯成走出來看看世界。另外標題的 Dance in the dark原意是在黑暗中跳舞，筆者從整首歌詞的意思將之翻譯成活在黑暗中，You can't ride on the arc這段倒是比較苦惱，arc本身有電弧、弓弦或者任何弧狀的事物，筆者是將arc視作電弧，引喻成你無法駕馭危險。Live as a dog in a hole筆者則是直譯，但總覺得這段應該是指井底之蛙。
